  • Examples: department, region, role, or any custom field you've defined

Usage & Engagement

  • Campaign usage statistics
  • Response rates and completion metrics
  • Helpful for analyzing participation patterns
Search Tip: Use the search box at the top to quickly find specific questions or variables across all categories.

Building Your Chart: Step-by-Step

Step 1: Drag Metrics to Chart Fields

Build your chart by dragging metrics from the left panel into three configuration areas:
Y AXIS VALUES (Require- Maximum 2 metrics)
  • This determines WHAT you're measuring
  • Drag questions or metrics here that you want to analyze
  • Examples:
  • A rating question to show average satisfaction
  • A multiple choice question to show response counts
  • Two metrics to create a comparison chart
Configure Y-Axis Options:
  • Aggregation: Click the three-dot menu on each metric to choose how to aggregate data:
  • Count: Total number of responses
  • Sum: Add up all values
  • Average: Calculate mean value
  • Min/Max: Show minimum or maximum values
  • Chart Type (for Mixed charts): Click the chart icon to select a specific chart type for this metric
X AXIS (Optional but recommended)
  • This determines HOW data is organized
  • Common uses:
  • Add a question to compare different answer choices
  • Ad"Time" to see trends over time
  • Add a contact variable to segment by demographics
Configure X-Axis Options:
  • Time Trend: If using Time metric, choose grouping (Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year)
  • Click the three-dot menu to change settings or remove

GROUP (Optional)
  • Add a Contact Variable to create grouped/segmented views
  • Perfect for comparing data across departments, regions, or other demographics
  • Filter Values: Click the filter icon to select specific values to include

Step 2: Select Visual Type

Click the "Select a chart type" button in the Chart Configuration section to choose how your data should be displayed:
Available Chart Types (varies based on your metrics):
  • Bar Chart: Horizontal bars, great for comparing categories
  • Column Chart: Vertical bars, ideal for showing data over time
  • Line Chart: Connected lines, best for trends and time series
  • Area Chart: Filled line chart, shows volume over time
  • Stacked Column: Multiple metrics stacked on top of each other
  • Pie Chart: Circular chart showing proportions (best for choice questions)
  • Gauge: Speedometer-style display for rating questions
  • Heatmap: Color-coded grid, ideal for matrix questions
  • Mixed: Combine different chart types for multiple metrics
  • NPS: Net Promoter Score visualization (for NPS rating questions)
For Text Questions Only:
  • Text Table: Display all text responses in a sortable table
  • Summary: AI-generated summary of all text responses
  • Keyword Sentiment: Analyze keywords with sentiment scores (requires NLP)
  • Entity Sentiment: Identify and analyze entities (people, places, organizations) with sentiment
  • Entity Type Sentiment: Group entities by type with sentiment analysis
Smart Recommendations: Chart Wizard will show contextual alerts suggesting the best chart types for your selected metrics.

Step 3: Configure Advanced Options (If Available)

For Summary Charts:
  • Set the word limit (50-1000 words) for Minder AI-generated summaries
  • Click "Generate Preview" to create the summary
For Group Filters:
  • Click the filter icon on grouped metrics
  • Select/deselect specific values you want to include
  • Useful for focusing on specific segments

Smart Features & Helpers

Automatic Validation
Chart Wizard provides intelligent warnings and suggestions:
  • Matrix questions → Recommends Heatmap
  • Text questions → Suggests Text Table, Summary, or NLP charts
  • Rating questions → Warns against Pie charts, suggests Gauge or Bar
  • Missing required fields → Shows what's needed
Metric Badges
Small labels on metrics show important information:
  • Index numbers (1, 2): Order of Y-axis metrics
  • Chart Type: Shows selected visualization for each metric
  • Aggregation: Displays how data is calculate(Count, Average, etc.)
  • NPS: Indicates Net Promoter Score questions
  • Text: Marks text/comment questions
Quick Actions
  • Clear: Click the "Clear" button to reset all chart configuration
  • Remove: Use three-dot menus to remove individual metrics

Tips for Best Results

Chart Selection
  • Use Bar/Column for comparisons
  • Use Line/Area for trends over time
  • Use Pie for simple proportions (avoid for ratings)
  • Use Heatmap for matrix questions
  • Use Gauge for single rating values
  • Use Mixed when combining different data types
Data Analysis
  • Start simple with one Y-axis metric and one X-axis metric
  • Add grouping only after you understand the basic pattern
  • Use Time on X-axis to spot trends
  • Use Contact Variables for demographic breakdowns
Text Analysis
  • Use Text Table to read individual responses
  • Use Summary for quick AI-generated insights
  • Use NLP charts if your text questions have NLP enabled
  • Set appropriate word limits for summaries (150-300 words is typical)
Performance
  • Charts with too many data points may load slowly
  • Use date ranges or filters to limit data volume
  • Mixed charts with many metrics may take longer to render

Common Chart Configurations

Example 1: Response Trends Over Time
  • Y-Axis: Any question with Count aggregation
  • X-Axis: Time (set to "Month")
  • Chart Type: Line or Area
Example 2: Average Rating by Department

  • You need at least one Y-axis metric to generate a chart
  • Add a metric from the left panel to Y-axis
"No charts available"
  • The metrics you selected may not be compatible
  • Try different metric combinations or chart types
Chart looks wrong or empty
  • Check that your metrics have data
  • Verify aggregation settings are appropriate
  • Try a different chart type
Text questions not showing
  • Make sure you selected Text Table, Summary, or NLP chart types
  • Other chart types cannot visualize text responses
Can't add more Y-axis metrics
  • Maximum is 2 metrics per chart
  • Remove one metric before adding another, or use summary statistics
